All successful organizations, big or small, have one trait in common - the innate ability to draw together talents and resources to create outstanding value, consistently.

Such an ecosystem is generally attributed to the fuzzy thing called "culture". But it goes much deeper. The positive energy is an outcome of a conscious drive towards facilitating an environment that generates synergy between forces, structures, and individuals.

This issue of Sattva explains how a synergistic culture can be built through proven frameworks that in turn enable organizations to view the landscape afresh and explore new opportunities.

Excerpt #6: The Holistic Structure
The organization is a structured social entity. It is characterized by a coordinated activity system that remains in close and continuous interaction with its external environment.

As a social unit, every organization is presumed to have a special and limited purpose (such as providing education or generating profits). Further, its creators intend it to last beyond the accomplishment of a single action.

Regardless of whether it is configured as a firm, a corporation, a trust, a partnership or a trade union, all organizations begin life by constituting or electing a Governing Body for themselves.
